The University of Thessaly, after the recent merger with the Technical and Technological Educational Institute of Thessaly, is one of the largest educational institutions in Greece. It is among the 5 best Greek universities and belongs to the 10 Greek institutions that have achieved the largest community funding to date in Horizon 2020.

Professor Anargyros Moulas of the University of Thessaly is the principal investigator and coordinator of the project.

The project is implemented at the General Department of Larissa, at the Laboratory of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Laboratory specializes in the development of biofunctional foods, drug delivery systems for medical devices and in the application of advanced analytical methods, mainly chromatography and mass spectroscopy, for kinetic studies and chemical analysis of biological and other samples.

The technical and research interests of the Laboratory also include fat-soluble vitamins with emphasis on vitamins D and A (retinoic acid) and natural products, phytochemicals and antioxidants. The molecular mechanisms and their action in vivo are studied using biochemistry and clinical chemistry methods and applications in nutrition and food are developed.

The Angelos Tsiogkas Egg Production Unit is a family business that today stands on a forty-year tradition. The reputation and trust that it has managed to build with effort, all these years, have made the company evolve with its own means and resources. The company's DNA is evolution, adaptation and change, which is why it has the potential to adapt extremely quickly to external factors.

The unit's facilities have been located all these years in an area of 20 acres, in the Kavellari area of Megara, Attica and are fully modernized with processes that are always in progress. The aim is to ensure the best possible living conditions for our hens, which is why all the standards required by law are strictly met in our facilities.

In the Egg Production Unit we produce superior quality eggs from three types of farming: Free Range, Barn and Caged
